Easter Holidays

As two days of Easter week are holidays, a number of large Dunedin firms, by arrangement with the unions concerned, will close for the 1

full week, employees meanwhile working overtime at time and a—half rates, to compensate for the extra days off. The position this yeair is that Anzac Day falls on Thursday of Easter week and, therefore, most firms and industries will be working only three days: Under the arrangement made in Dunedin, which has not been followed in Auckland so far as can be ascertained, the overtime will compensate for work on the Tuesday and Wednesday and the Friday will be “given in.” This means that workers will begin their holidays on Good Friday, April 19, which is a statutory holiday, and will resume on Monday,April 29.
