High Price for Fodder
Disappointment at the high price to be charged for fodder being brought from the South Island to assist local farmers who have suffered from the drought was expressed at the meeting of the Auckland executive of the Farmers’ Union on March 20. A letter was sent to the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, pointing out that £8 a ton for hay was considered to be too high a price to pay for fodder for run cattle, and adding that heavy stock losses were expected.
