SCHOOL SWIMMING

BAY OF PLENTY MEETING

LOCAL COMPETITORS PERFORMANCE

The annual inter-school swimming meeting of the Bay of Plenty High Schols was held last week at Te Puke, Katikati being the only school not represented. The day was ideal for the purpose, and some good swimming was witnessed, a number of records being broken during the day. The Whakatane competitors performed creditably considering their lack of facilities for training, and finished in third place on the day’s points, not far behind* Te Puke. Tauranga College was an easy first.

Whakatane swimmers who won their events were: J. Wano 50yds. Junior, A Grade J. Wano 25yds. Junior B Backstroke (a record): L. Goodall 100yds. Senior A: L. Goodall 25yds. Senior A Backstroke: Wiki Hall 25yds. Second places were gained by: Beverley Macdonald 25yds. Senior A Backstroke: L. Goodall 25yds. Senior B: G. Goodall 25yds. Senior B Backstroke: Judy Burke 25yds. Senior B Backstroke: Margaret Raureti 25yds. Junior B: Jocelyn Barker 25yds. Junior B Breaststroke: K. Carter 25yds. Junior A Backstroke: I. Breward 25yds. Whakatane competitors also gained nine third places.
