Although the Amusement Park Joyland, which operated in connection with the R.S.A. Memorial Queen Carnival did not have a good season in Whakatane, the R.S.A. Committee nevertheless benefited to the extent of £lO2 12s under the arrangement whereby 50 per cent, of nett proceeds were to be denoted to the Memorial Appeal Fund. A generous* gesture on the part of the management of Joyland was the handing over of the sum without the expected deduction for 50 per cent, of wages. The two town candidates will bene, it by the sum of £sl 6s a piece.
