WHAKATANE PROSECUTIONS Before Mr E. L. Walton, S.M. in the Whakatane Court last Tuesday, the Transport Department (Inspector R. Doggett) proceeded against Janet Elizabeth Terry, the driver of a car which was so loaded as to cause injury to persons. Inspector Doggett stated that when noticed by him there were two persons riding on the mudguards. Defendant stated that it was on Christmas Eve and she did not realise her predicament. Fined 10/- and 12/- costs. Hammond Rota for driving without the requisite number plates and also having no warrant of fitness was fined 20/- and costs 35/- and 10/- and costs 15/- respectively.

Leonard James Newdick who rode a motor cycle without a driver’s licence and also exceeded 30 m.p.h. at Ohope Beach was fined £5 and costs 22/- and £2 and costs 33/- respectively.
