A COMPARATIVE TABLE DECREASE IN FEES AND FINES Following are the Whalcatane Court figures for the years ended 31st December 1944 and 1945: — 1944 194(5 Civil sittings court 13 13 Criminal 69 57 Civil actions 43 65 Criminal cases tried 325 233 Children’s Court cases which arc included in previous figures 36 42 Civil and criminal fees and fines £538 11s £'45;7 Of the criminal sittings in 1945 j 13 were presided over by the Magistrate. and 57 by Justices of the Peace compared Avlth the figures of 13 and 69 for 1944. Included in the amount of £157 collected for civil and criminal fees and 'fines is the sum of £291 15s collected by Avay of fines as against £394 10s for 1944. Of the fees and fines collected last year £36 10s Avas paid over to the local authorities for prosecutions brought forward by them.
