A prominent Westralian business man, largely interested in the tobacco trade, and who has been holiH daying in Maoriland has been tell-; ing a daily paper on his return home some of his impressions. "One thing that struck me especially J' he said, "was that all the tobacconists were selling the. New Zealand grown and manufactured which on sampling 4 found of most excellent quality and as good, in fact ? as any [ have ever smoked. The manufacturers' extensive works are at Port Ahuriri near Napier. Here they are producing live brands of tobacco that are in general request, viz.. Navy Cut No. 3 (Bulldog) f Riverhead Gold and Desert Gold, and Cut Plug No. 10 (Bullshead) also tailormades. A distinguishing feature, of these blends is that they are toasted, which process eliminates the nicotine in them and renders them virtually harmless. Over-indulgence in some brands may effect heart or nerves. With 'toasted' the smoker runs no such risk."
