DRAWN GAME
A drawn game was the result of the match between Waimana and United played last weekend on the Whakataiie Domain. Waimana took first use oi' the wicket 11. Ruff and Ax tens being the opening pair. With the score at 26 Ruff was. bowled by McKenzie. McConnell was next and had not opened his account when he was caught and bowled by Spring. A good partnership then took place, Ax tens, and Wells putting on exactly 100 runs before being separated. Axtens although missed twice early, was very steady in compiling 59 runs. Wells hit hard in making 60. Of the latter batsmen Boynton, Clark and M. Wardlaw reached double figures. The innings closed at 1.30 p.m. lor 200 runs, leaving United 1% hours batting time. Spring and Crawford opened and 42 were on the board before Spring was clean bowled by Wells. Le Pine was next but Crawford was caught behind 5 runs later and 2 wickets were down for 47. McKenzie and Le Pine took the score to 78'when Le Pine was caught in the outfield. At stumps United had 128 on the. board for 5 wickets McKenzie being 4.1 not out.
