OBITUARY
MRS P. KEEGAN The death has occurred in Auckland of Mrs Patrick Keegan, formerly well known in Whakatane. Mrs Keegan was born in Oriental Bay ( Wellington. Her parents came from Ireland and arrived in the ship Ann Wilsofi when Wellington was little more than a village.
Her father the late Mr George Henry Wilson became Government Auditor later removing to Gisborne in the troublesome days of Te Kooti. Here he edited a paper called "The Wakamaori" which was printed both in Maori and English. Mrs Keegan married Mr Patrick Keegan who was one of the original Opouriao settlers and who still survives. Mrs Keegan lived on their farm at Taneatua for 21 years and at the Whakatane farm for six years where she was well known leaving Whaka<tane for Auckland 20 years ago.
There were four children reared in Whakatane Aileen, Clifton and Elwyn and eight grandchildren.
