Dear Sir

COMMUNISM AND CHRISTIANITY Sir—Mr Hallett from the tone of his letter I gather, could not understand anyone being honest and sincere unless they were prepared to accept his (Mr Halletl’s) views. It would he laughable to suggest that I would avoid the issue to debate Communism and Christianity, and I was here on the 12th on the offchance that the date was acceptable. Your correspondent’s dirty little gibe insinuating that I was. aware Mr Wilcox had gone to Wellington on that date is on a par with Vyshinsky’s attitude at the recent sessions of U.N.O. By the way, what is the Communist party batching at Wellington. Is Mr Bcvin likely to enquire about Persia, Rumania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Poland, Estonia, Latvia Lithuania or. Greece that there is intense activity in the Communist camp? < There was no occasion to inform me that I could find, the difference between Communism and Socialism in the Oxford dictionary as they as far apart as the poles and any ordinary intelligent person realises that difference. But I assume that your correspondent went to the dictionary for his own information. Anyhow, who said anything about So- - cialism —amongst the bees again! I asked for for I know how the Communist Party twist and distort all news for no other purpose than to inflame the passions of all people everywhere, against our Empire and Commonwealth.
My authorities would be taken from all papers where freedom of the press, is allowed; from statements by Messrs Bevin Chifley, Fraser—leaders of the Labour movement in their respective countries—Harry Hopkins, Wendel Willkie, correspondents like White, Professor Julian Huxley, Blamires, late Soviet Ambassador to Greece now an American v citizen and the head of '■ the Russian Purchasing Commission, also now an American citizen and a host of others including the Australian ambassador to Moscow who let the cat out of the bag properly. Tile results of the free elections (please note ‘free’) in Bavaria and Hess districts would be quoted, and also that the great Tory landslide in Britain was only successful in producing two .Communiists. But if I quote any more it will be you who will be having heart failure.
To complete the stoi'y—if. your correspondent will turn page 883 in the Schofield Bible he will find that 9 T never make a statement unless I have documentary evidence to support it. Now Mr Editor, I would like to point out to Mr Hallett that he has brought this on himself, for; when 1 met him on my last trip he stated the reason why he could not accept my challenge personally and asked if he had done wrong in substituting Mr Wilcox. I accepted his explanation and only commented that he should have notified me. Yours etc.,
E. GILMORE.
Sir, —To the readers of your pap6r> I would like to say this—l deeply regret the personal attacks that have developed in this controversy. Mr Hallett brought me in without any knowledge of my identity, my be* liefs or my objectives In attacking Communism. He made some astounding statements lit his first letter without any justification. MY opinions are based on the. prophetic side of the Divine Book. I believe that the present world situation is beyond human control and that wd must return to the Almighty and the teachings of the Master. I attack Communism because it is an antiChristian organisation. I believe that we are the people of the BOOK and this continuous anti-British propaganda is. leading to a complete fulfilment of the prophetic word. Yours etc. ‘BRITISHER.*
