R.S.A. MEMORIAL FUND

CAMPAIGN AT TANEATUA PRINCESS ‘NANCY’ APPOINTED A meeting was called at Taneatua last week lor the purpose of meet-** irig members of the Whakatane* R.S.A. in connection with the part Taneatua would play in the raising, of money for the current Memorial Fund. Appeal. There was a good attendance of residents with Afessrs L. D.. Radclitfe C. Head and Alacker* 9 from the iR.S.A.

Each R.S.A., representative ad-* dressed the meeting, Mr Brown e.v* plaining the object of the appeal' namely that the money would be de-> voted to a fund which would be used to assist distressed ex-service-men in the years to come. . \\

After R.S.A. representatives had retired it was decided to sup-* port the appeal and to appoint »*■ Princess for the. district. Mr J. Goodhcw was appointed and Mrs N. Semmens secretary. - Miss Nancy Sliaw was unanimously elected as the Taneatua Princess. " At a subsequent meeting various activities in connection with the appeal were decided upon, the 1 urg-es-1 venture being a gymkhana to beheld on March 16. The usual horse events will be held and an excellent programme of amateur athletics aswell.

A clay bird shoot is planned and dances and a series of card parties will be run.

Judging by the enthusiasm displayed Princess Nancy can be assured of splendid support and the Memorial Fund shall benefit by a substantial amount from the. Taneatua district.
