TAURANGA-TE PUKE CHALLENGE
WIN FOR WHAKATANE
On Anniversary Day a combined team from laurariga-Te Puke played Whakatane on th c Domain. WJhakatane won the toss and batted first. L. R. Spring and I. Campbell were tlie opening batsmen for Whakatane. Spring went out linv on the third ball in the First over. WV Crawford scored consistently and made 46 be,i fore he was caught by Reid. W. J„ McKenzie and E. Wells, made a fine stand together and put 157 runs on the board before McKenzie was bowled by Reid. Wells after an excellent innings retired at 103. Wilson and Rivctt were both not out when Whakalane declared for 297 runs. For Tauranga-Te Puke. I. Crowley and W. ,R. Semmens opened the batting. Crowley scored consistently before being caught by Gillam. Semmens was the only other batsman to reach double figures and they were all out for a total of 98 runs. Details:—
