OHOPE GALA
ANNIVERSARY DAY EVENT FUN ON THE BEACH In the. interests of Princess Beverley a popular contestant in the R.S.A. Queen Carnival the Old Veterans and Businessmen’s Committee will stage a Gala second to none on Ohope Beach next Tuesday (Anniversary Day). Already plans are advanced for something more spectacular than usual and it behoves all who desire to participate in a splendid outing to be present.
Tuesday’s Gala is not dedicated to any one section of fhc community. It is dedicated to all—children and adults alike. A glance at the programme shows the following features : Baby Contest (up to six months to 12, to 2 years); Girl’s Marching Teams—no less than eight; Swimming contests in Ohope Pool; Bathing Beauty Contest; Obstacle Race; Three Mile Cycle Race; CHop r ping Events; Sand Castle Competition; Treasure Hunt; Side Shows; Shies etc.; and dozens of other attractions. Added tp which there will be ice cream stalls catering J hot water supplied and what ho—cockles for sale —real Ohiwa cockles too! Two bands will be in attendance the Whakatane Boys’ Band and the Whakatane Caledonian Society’s Junior Band. Here is an opportunity to support a most deserving cause and to have at the same time a most enjoyable day’s outing at Beautiful Ohope Beach.
And don’t forget—the Grand Windup Dance, in the Caledonian Hall in the evening.
