WEDDING BELLS
YOUNG— DOHERTY A wedding of local interest was solemnised recently at St. John’s Church, Whakatane, when Margaret Patricia eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs R. Doherty, of Piripai, vras married to Edward Cramer, son of, Mr and Mrs Young of Victoria! Avenue. The Rev. Father Curly officiated.
The bride, who was. given away by her father, looked charming in a dress of white satin cut on classical lines. Her veil of net had a coronet of orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of gladioli Christmas lilllcis and maidenhair fern. White shoes were worn.
The bridesmaid. Miss M. Cousins, a friend of the bride was dressed J in light green embossed satin and a 'gold Juliet cap. She also wore white shoes. Her bouquet consisted of stock, gladioli and maidenhair fern.
Mr Thomas Young, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. The reception was held at the home of the bride where Mrs Doherty received the some thirty guests. Father Curly officiated as toastmas-
Mr and Mrs Young later left on an extended tour of the Auckland province. The bride’s going away frock was a dusky pink costume with white accessories. The couple’s future home will lie. in Whakatane.
GREEN!—BRYANT A wedding of considerable inter-* est to the Whakatane district took place at All Saints Church, Edgecumbe, on November 17, when Ivy Edna only daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Bryant of Otaldri, was married' to Private’ William John Claude, eldest son of Mrs L. Green, of Rotorua. Private Green lias recently returned from overseas, where lie was a Prisoner of War for four years..
The ceremony was performed by. the tilev. J. C. J. Wilson of Wlni-* katane, while Mrs W. H. of Te Puke presided at the organ. The church was nicely decorated for the occasion by girl friends of the bride.
The bride who was given away by her father, ’ looked charming in a gown of white sheer cut on classical lines, the bodice featuring a heartshaped neck line, while the full skirt was train length with 'pleated edging. Her full length veil of embroidered tulle was held in place by n coronet of fine tulle, and she carried a shower bouquet of white 1 illies, roses and maidenhair fern. In attendance as bridesmaid was Miss Dorothy Evered, of Tauranga, who was fhocked in apricot sheer and carried a shower bouquet of apricot and mauve shades of roses and stocks, with maidenhair fern,aml a coronet to match. Little Kaye Francis, niece of the bridegroom, in pale green sheer with posy to tone, made a daintylittle (lower girl. The bridegroom’s brother, Mr Sam Green, of Huntly, was best man. After the ceremony,, a reception was held in the Otaldri Ball, where approximately ISO guests assembled Cor the wedding breakfast. The long tables were tastefully laid out, the beautiful three tier wedding cake taking pride of place. The. usual toasts were honoured, Captain Rogers, of the Church Army,
being Master of Ceremonies. Mrs Bryant, assisted by Mrs Green received the guests wearing a black silk crepe ensemble, with while bead trimmings, and hat to matchv. She carried a posy of red gerberas and roses. Mrs Green wove a na , \y blue silk crepe frock with accessories to match. Her posy was of gold shades of abutilons and roses. Later in the afternoon the happy couple left on an extended tour of New Zealand, the bride travelling in an embroidered suit of green linen with brown accessories. Mr’and Mrs W. Green were the recipients of a large number of beautiful and valuable presents, including many cheques.
