NEED FOR ABATTOIR

BOROUGH COUNCIL DISCUSSION “I would, like to reintroduce the question of building an abattoir in Wlmkatane,” said Cr C. W. Good at last Monday’s meeting of the Borough Council. “I understand that when a town reaches a population of 2500 it is obligatory to have an abattoir and when we. last investD gated although we were prepared to go ahead, we did not then know that our town exceeded that figure.” The Mayor (Mr B. S. Barry) said that the council was quite prepared to build an abattoir but bad been refused a permit by the Building Controller.

Cr Good: Don’t you think that now we know the true population figure we should, take fresh steps f o see that we do have this amenity. It is very important. It was decided to turn up past correspondence on the matter and to diseus-s it fully at next meeting of the council.
