POWER SHORTAGE

SUPPLY FOR 1946 BOROUGH REQUIRES INCREASE Setting out details of a meeting of the Power Shortage Advisory Committee, the Controller of Electricity notified th'e Whakatane Borough Council that it had been agreed that in rationing power for 1D46 allocation should be made on the basis of the greatest amount used in either 1943, 1944 or 1945 plus 3 per cent, increase to all using authorities. This basis would apply in all cases except in clear-cut cases of increase or variation of supply. The Mayor in discussing the letter stated that in his opinion Wliakatanc had every reason to apply for an increase for local demand.
