FORCES’ PET DOGS
QUARANTINE “KENNEL” I An outsize quarantine “kennel” for dogs brought to Britain by returning servicemen is to - be opened “somewhere in Britain.” Dogs will be boarded at special rates according to the owner’s rank in the Forces. For the six months’ quarantine period, ranks up to cor-* poral will pay £5 sergeants and warrant officers £lO up to captain £ls, and above that rank £2O.
No dog can be brought into the country without a license from tlie Ministry of Agriculture. A serviceman overseas should apply through his commanding officer, with a vet’s certificate, of his dog’s health. Unless the dog is free from disease the Ministry will not grant a license.
Some men say that their homecoming is marred through having to leave their dogs behind. One mar. said that his dog had been with him all through the Aft lean campaign, Sicily, Italy and Europe.
