WHITHER BOUND HUMANITY Sir, —1 was astounded on arriving in Whakatane last Tuesday to read in your paper an acceptance of a challenge that 1 had issued to a Mr Hallett to a debate on Communism Communist Party or Christianity,’ but to my astonishment, Avithout any notification lie. bad substituted .Mr Vie Wilcox of Auckland secretary to the Communist Party. Granted such action was a great compliment to me, but Mr Wilcox and I know one another. I have heard him speak at the corner of. Victoria Street and Queen Street, Auckland and 1 am dubious about the outcome of a meeting between us. If however, Mr Wilcox Avill give me his word through your paper- that he will speak only on ‘Communism, its success or failure wherever it has been tried’ and the policy and aims of the Communist Party (not to be confused with the Labour Party which repudiates Communism) and that he Avill produce his authorities giving author and dates of his quo-f rations (this being essential becausj of the strict censorship imposed by the .U.S. S. R.) on these conditions

I will accept Mr Wilcox as Mr Halflett’s substitute. I Avould ask further that Mr Wilcox opens the debate and I will be pleased Mr Editor for you to arrange a chairman. As to the actual date I find that it is impossible to be in Whakatane on the 18th as suggested, as I am continually on the road but I will offer either the 12th or 20th of February Avhen once again I , Avill be visiting your town.

Sir—l have read with interest the artiefes appearing in different issues of the Beacon under the above heading; the mind that prompted these did not see possibly humanity stopping itself. Humanity is entirely in the hands of science. I saw twelve months ago, that the suggested Bank of International Settlement would play a prominent part in the rebuilding of the world’s war damage; one of its biggest garantors (Russia) wants to supply the nails that is to hold the structure together. America’s great lend and lease helped to terminate the' greatest world war in history, successfully for us, and for humanity, but the weapons of destruction, used for that purpose are. still in existence, and principally in the hands of the foundfers of our present day Fifth Columnists. They are becoming prominent in world politics. This humanity will find world conquest the objective. These great benefactors from Lend and Lease have a finger (through the medium of communism) on every move world nations make to build a new world for themselves and humanity.
