FARMING INTERESTS
AUCKLAND UNION ACTIVE SAT LSFACTORY REPORTS RECEIVED Marked activity is being displayed by the N.£. Farmers’ Union (Auckland Province) at tile, present time in canvassing farmers, throughout the large area under its jurisdiction with a view to correcting misunderstandings that have occurred and emphasising the virility and zeal of the Union in lighting the cause of the. farmer. At last executive meeting reports were received from various sources mostly of-a satisfactory nature, and it was decided to approach the Dominion Executive in Wellington for two more organisers to assist in the work. Amongst the reports received was one from Mr R. CL Kruse Union organiser, who had covered a large area in North Auckland addressing many meetings
tnd personally contacting individual armors. “Results/’ lie? said, “had
been most satisfactory.” Arrangements nad been made he added, to
hold a meeting at Ruawai shortly. Excellent meetings were reported by Messrs R. W. Dunning, S. S.
Green S. K. Hall R. .1. Glasgow * J and other executive members. “When the facts arc explained ” said Mr Hall, “there is little difficulty in satisfying fanners that many statements made to them by opposing interests are entirely false and that the Union has done a line job in protecting their interests.” Messrs Scott Davidson (vice-president) R. W. Dunning and A. E. Bryant also reported on meetings held at To Awamutu and Huntly where the position with regard to Federation was discussed.
