OBITUARY

MRS EDNA WEST The death has occurred of Mrs Edna West, wife of Mr C. R. West of the Wliakatane Native Department. Mis West who was born at Pahiatua, forty,-four years ago was educated at the Waipawa and Napier High Schools, and when married made her home in several towns in the North and South Islands. Com,-* ing from Te Kuiti to* Whakatanc with her family some lour years ago, she made, a number of friends in this district and though a great horae;lover and in indifferent health for the belter part of the time, she won the deep regard of all who knew her and her passing has caused widespread regret. The deepest sympathy will be extended her husband, her two children Miss Nola West and Mr Graham West, and her mother Mrs Wilton. The funeral which took place last Wednesday afternoon was performed by the Rev. H. Hogg. The late Mrs West had great ability as a pianiste, and for some years took an active part in concerts and recitals. In her younger days she was also a keen yachtswoman and numbered among the crews of many racing craft.
