FURTHER CHARGES PENDING

At the Opotiki Police Court lust week bet ore Messrs T. G. Johnson and; C. Pipe, Justices, Milton James Richard Jamieson, aged 17 years, a car painter’s assistant, residing in St. John Street, Opotiki, faced a charge that on January 2. at Opo,tiki he did by night break and enter the shop situated in Church Street occupied by Fred Wriglcy, .and did steal therefrom live wireless .sets valued at £llO, the property <of the said Fred Wriglcy.

Sergeant J. Isbistcr said that the shop was broken into in the early morning and live wireless sets were .stolen irom the window. Other 'business premises in the town had .also been broken into recently and enquiries had to be made concerning these. The wireless sets hud been recovered in a shied occupied by accused, and the police asked tor a -remand.

Accused said that he would like •bail if possible. Sergeant! Isbister said that the police did not oppose bail but the amount of bail would need to be .substantial in view of the fact that recent thefts in the town involved .about £3OO. Bail was refused.
