WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

GATHERING AT THORNTON

HAPPY CHILDREN'S PARTY:

The Thornton Hall presented a very bright appearance on Saturday evening December 15 when about 70 children of Women's Institute members were entertained at a Christmas party. The large Christmas tree gay with streamers and ribbons and laden with parcels delighted the childi-en and when Santa Glaus, in traditional red gown and snowy beard appeared, he received an enthusiastic welcome from the young folk. Amid lots of fun and laughter he presented each child with a gift from the tree and before departing on his round of cheer he presented a shoulder spray to the to the vice-president and to the see* retary of the' Institute. The children were served with supper of jellies, trifles and ice cream and by 10 o'clock, tired but happy all were ready to be taken home. Credit and appreciation are due to the president, Mrs Robb t> and her willing band of helpers whose efforts, ensured the undoubted success of the party.
