TREMAIN— SMEDLEY The marriage of Miss. Pearl Smedley (late W.D.H.S.) only daugnter of Mr and Mrs W. W. of Takapuna formerly of Whakatane, to Captain John Alfred Tremain (recently returned from four years ser-. vice in the Middle East) only son of Mrs and the late Mr J. E. Tremain of was celebrated stl St. Peters Church, Takapuna, on Saturday December 8. Entering the church with her father, the bride wore a gown of ivory satin cut on classical lines f with gathered skirt falling into a slight train. A coronet of white carnaftions held her Brussells net veil 'in place and she carried a bou-< quet of Xmas lillies and white roses. In attendance as; bridesmaids were Miss Kathleen Whitford, and two younger girls, Patricia Fennessy, of Onepu, and Kristin Jacobi. All wpre l'rocks of palest green marquisette with full skirts over green and

white patterned underslips; with headdresses and bouquets of pink sweet peas and carnations. Ona of the ushers was; Mr Fred Smedley j R.N.Z.N. (late W.D.H.S) brother of the bride. Former pupils, of the bride formed a guard of honour at the entrance to the church. fTie reception was held Jit the home of the bride's parents. Captain and Mrs Tremain's future home will be at Talcapuna.
