ROWING

WHAKATANE CLUB Once again over the weekend the local club held its fortnightly trial fours. The attendance was not as good as usual but the crews were very even. The first race between L. Carey (s) () R. Byrnes R. King (2) ? D. Keepa (b) } R. Ellis (cox) and G. Price (s),- F. Price (3) ? G. Dines W. Henderson (b) Dines (cox) . This proved quite, a good race and after a keen fight Carey's crew won by a length. The final proved a great race being between Carey's crew and G. Moore (s) ? E. Hunt A. Moore (2) i} P. Maxwell (b). For the full length of the course these two crews rowed neck to neck. Just ft the finish Carey put in a final dash and his crew crossed the line -.two feet ahead of Moore's crew. R. Ellis was the winning cox.
