RED CROSS APPEAL VICTIMS IN WAR RAVAGED EUROPE The New Zealand Red Cross Socicty has received a cable from the International Red Cross in with regard to the suffering of children in war-ravaged countries. Statements have been made to the ■effect that hundreds of thousands may die unless relief is sent in time. The International Committee is urging the National Red Cross Society to do all in its power to help those children who lack clothes and medical and at present face one of the greatest catastrophes that has ever threatened children. Reports from the Whakatane branch of the Red Cross state that over the past few nearly 600 garments for both adults and children have been despatched to the British Red and an appeal is made to all those who can possibly do so to lend their "support.
