WATER WASTAGE
WARNING TO HOUSEHOLDERS Reporting to the Borough Council last evening the Electrical Engineer stated that though the water system was functioning well 9 unless certain who habitually played their hoses all day long, conserved their supply it would be; necessary to apply the hose restrictions and curtail their use. Councillors supporting the report stated that all over the Borough people were running hoses over their gardens all day long. It was unfortunate that they did not realise that the supply was limited Nand that such wholesale wastage would inevitably lead to a general penalty over the whole of the community. Cr Canning pointed out that +he existing only permitted the use of hoses when held in the hand. Everywhere however people were ignoring this and water was - left running to waste. The Mayor: It's a case of those people stopping that practice or losing the use of their hoses altogether. The decided to give the above the widest publicity as it is loath to enforce its emergency restrictions until it becomes absolutely essential to do so.
