ATTRILL CUP HELD OPOTIKI OUTCLASSED Last weekend the local representative side successfully defended a challenge from Opotiki for the Atts rill Cup. Whakatane was too strong • for ilie young visiting side which fought a losing game in a r very good spirit. For Whakatane H Crawford batted well for 32 during the early part of the side's innings. . Later Wells, and Axtens scored freely from bowling more tired. Opotild ~ received an early setback in their innings at the bands of Fisher who took three wickets, for one run in his first two overs. The Opotiki side did not recover and Yan.stone was tlie only batsman to score double; 9 figures. DRAW FOR SECOND ROUND Owing to the Taneatua Club withdrawing for a short time from the local competitions the draw for the second round has been amended and is as follows: — Ist Round: Paroa v Edgecumbe at Whakatane No. 2; Waimana v Whakatane at Whakatane No. 1. 2nd Round: Paroa v Waimana at Waimana; EJdgocumbe v Whakatane at Whakatane. 3rd Round: Paroa v Whakatane at Whakatane.: Edgecumbe v Waimana at Waimana. >
