WHITHER BOUND HUMANITY
that 1 am financially interested expecting you to pay the .same amount if you find out what a joke your statement is! 1 regret having to be so rough anid tough but perhaps you like it direct. 1 am pre.pared to debate the question of the difference between Communism and Communist Part\' or Christianity in any public hall in Whakatane at a time to suit both parties. Yours etc., F. F. GILMORE (Britisher). P.S. An afterthought the I3rit- ? ish Federation of Labour refused affiliation with the Communist Party by i:n;0(M!00 votes; the N.Z. Labour Party on the I.4tb of the month alfirmed its determination not to be associated with the Communist Party publicly. (E.J.*\G.).
Sii^ —The above, is the right heading for the letter of your correspond dent Mr Hallett lor where will hu-> inanity finish when men rush into print and make the misleading statement either by design to boloster tip their Jailing faith or to prove their ignorance. The Mr Gilmore of Auckland is in Whakatane and he foas one good fault he never attacks any one personally in their absence —it is not a usual British practice*— It really is a British peculiarity to be fair and honourable in their dealings and we would find a just and honourable peace if the other nations woul follow suit Mr Hallett. 1 am accused ol' wishful wishing in some of my statements in the press and outside—here are a lew—"that the leaders of the U.S.S.R. would cause unrest throughout the world; that Communism would extend from the Atlantic to the Pacific; that the Stalin,-Hitler pact and the U.S.S.R. pact with Japan caused us the loss of untold numbers of the llower of the Empire; that Britain and thq U.S.A. should have been granted the use of tlie U.S.S.R. Pacific fleet and Siberian air bases when the Japs were raping and murdering our folk! 1 have stated that- there is no such thing as Communism in the U.S.S.'R. and that the Com,i munist Party numbering only 3 500 - 000 out of a population of 000 is the most dictatorial party in. Europe today—note that approximately do not belong to the party ! 1 have made the remark that this war will finish, in Palesalso that the Communist agitators would inflame the passions of the backward peoples of the world for no other purpose than to suit themselves and their ideology. Now for a few authorities —1 have a book in my possession published in 1879 that is 6(5 years ago "Communism
will unsettle every throne but one and that is England." The Schofleld Bible printed ages ago stresses the point that Russia would be rcspon-) , sible for Avorld unrest ! An article in a publication 'Israel Elpis' pub-
lished 1848 nearly 100 years ago shows the position of Palestine to-* day though the Turks had been in possession of the country for centuries. (At this stage I must state that T have no proprietary right to this paper so must condense this letter a little). I agree with Mr Dar-
ran that British foreign policy is I'outided on Christianity anid it comes ill from Mr Hallett to state that it has been based on profitable investments and appeasement because Stalin appeased both Hitler and Horohito ? but the latest text book issued by U.S.S.R. namely "Marxist foundations" signed by eleven of
the leading economists completely repudiates Communism and accepts: capitalism as the only progressive system; allows wage profits, wage differentials and income tax refunds. For the benefit of your readers there are millionaires in the U.S.S.R. and loans are granted to returned servicemen to build houses under private enterprise. Profesor Huxley noted biologist on his return from
Moscow within the last three months makes this statement: "There is no pretence to equality in the U.S.S.R and lie saw more class distinction here than in either Britain or the U.S.A. Coming back to trade—the U.S.S.R. was at war with Japan J'or approximately one week but like
her demands on Esthonia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Poland Finland,' Iran, Turkey, Manchuria Korea, China she is doing it just'for love. In closing I am forced to V ma'ke a personal comment on the most ignorant and laughable statement in the whole of your correspondent's letter using the words 'owning the world's [goods; wealthy minority; contact big [ daily papers etc' so I issue this challenge to you Mr Hallett! I will pay to any patriotic organisation the : sum of £10 if you can nominate one i s paper, one business or any investment (excluding National Savings)
