Red Cross Meetings Members of the Red Cross are reminded that the monthly meeting will be bold in the Borough Council Chambers on Tuesday next, 13th November at 2 p.m. Ihe Centre meeting will be bold nn tlie same day at 11 a.m. Trial Fours The Whakatane Rowing CliVb will hold its first set. of trial i'ours over the weekend. Crews taking part will compete for the Stewart Cup. A lull attendance is expected and out 'ol' the teams competing material lor coming regattas avill be chosen. The first race will commcnce at 10 a.m. Debt Cases Judgment was entered for plaintin: in the following debt cases heard before Mr E. L. S.M., in the Whakatane Court last Tuesday: Max Hunt v E. L. Hoskin # £3 12s 6d costs 25s (3d. Stolen Bicycle Recovered One V-E nighty a bicycle was stolen from the rack opposite the Regent Theatre. Intimation from the Policc Department has been received to the effect that parts of the machine have been recovered, but the owner cannot be found. The parts in question are easily identifiable. The owner is requested to visit the Whakatane Policc Station at the earliest opportunity for this purpose. Tonight's Gym Dance Tonight thie local Gymnasium Club intends holding a dance in the Caledonian Hall. Past .gym dances have without exception, proved to be very popular with the crowd and a large, attendance is assured. A feature of the evening will be a display of gymnastics by members during the supper interval. We understand all arrangements are. well forward and a night of highi entertainment is promised. Ngatiawa Haka Party Concert On Thursday November 15 at the V , Te Teko the Ngatiawa Haka Party is to present a programme of ancient and modern Maori Dances Hakas > Pois and Action Songs. The party's interpretation of other forms of Polynesian entertainment will include the traditional handling of the famous fighting weapon the Taiaha. All proceeds from the concert will go . towards the party's expense in equipping itself with Piupius etc. for the ceremonial welcome to Lieu 1 :. Col. Henare and members of the Maori Battalion who are expected home in the near future. The concert commences at K p.m. and i dance will follow.
