ST. JOHN AMBULANCE

INSPECTION BY COMMISSIONERS LOCAL DIVISIONS PARADE Last Saturday evening a full parade of tire St. John Ambulance and Cadet Divisions assembled in the new St. John Training Hall & > King where a formal inspection was carried out by the District Commissioners of the organisation, Mr and Mrs Cobbe. Mir W. Sullivan M.P., and His Worship the Mayor Mr B. S. Barry was present whilst apologies were received from Dr. Appleby (Divisional Surgeon) Mr E. R. Dillicar (Association Secretarj) and Mr A. J. Canning (President) . Some forty-two members in all were paraded.

The inspection, having been carried out, the. parade was. dismissed and Mr Barry delivered a short address, welcoming Mr and Mrs Cobbe to the district and assuring them that the services rendered by their organisation were very greatly apprecated by the citizens of the community. Mr Barry also conveyed his thanks in the same vein to the local divisions on behalf of both — '9 County and Borough residents. In response, Mr Cobbe said that it always gave both Mrs; Cobbe and himself great pleasure to visit Wha. katane and the District Divisions 5 and he expressed the hope that he might be able to be present when the new premises were ready for official opening and dedication.

Mr Sullivan spoke briefly emphasising the invaluable work performed by the members of the organisation? not only in this district, but throughout the whole of the Dominion, and congratulated the local Divisions on their fine effort in building a hall for themselves.

The Superintendent, Mr E. J. Ramson spoke on behalf of the Ambulance and Cadet Divisaying that although the work in which the members, were engaged occupied much of their spare time, they one and all, felt a great deal of satisfaction at being able to render assistance to 'those who required their services. In conclusion he stated the local ambulance, had j-ust completed the busiest week of a record year. During the previous seven dajrs, it had covered a distance of no less than 1200 miles.
