ROBBERY WITHOUT VIOLENCE
Sir—The citizens of New Zealand 9 arc probably congratulating themselves on their astuteness in investing such a huge amount in the War Loan. Viewed purely from the viewpoint of an investment it is quite in order but under no circumstances could it l)e considered the act of a true patriot except by a person possessing a perverted moral outlook. Now that the. fighting is over the Kiwis will finti that they are the "Cuckoos" who have to find the taxes to pay thj. 'Buzzards' who did nothing. Just how these patriotic 'Buzzards' expect to receive more than they invested without defrauding anyone would tax tlie ingenuity of the most brilliant mathematician. Should any of your correspondents care to present a solution, proving that one can gain through usury without causing the exploitation of anyone, the writer will be only too pleased to pay to sucb person the sum of live pounds. Yours in perplexity < SIMPLE SAM.
