FISHING SEASON
PROSPECTS BRIGHT
A sure indication that the fishing reason which opened yesterday will be one of the brightest for years was the exceptionally large demand for licenses. Owing to a postal hold up 5 these arrived only in the nick of time and some fears were enter, taiped as to whether they would be on hand for the opening. A large number of local anglers betook themselves with rod and line to their favourite, lishing and spent yesterday endeavouring to hook the wary trout, which according to prior reports had been seen rising on the. Lakes. Rotoma Reports Excellent reports are to hand regarding the first season fishing at Lake Rotoma where a number of ■y visiting and local sportsmen are trying their lines. Mr R. Rogers and party of Auckland hooked nine on a fly averaging 4^2lbs. Mr D. Whittle of Whakatane landed four averaging whilst" another party from the Rangitaiki took five averaging 4% lbs. Conditions are good and the trout are in fine fettle.
