FACTORY APPROACHES

TAR-SEALING SCHEME ArPROVED COUNCIL TO CO-OPERATE The Whakatane County Council at its meeting last Tuesday decided to co»operate with the Rangitaiki Plains Dairy Company in the matter of sealing and curbing the approaches to the Edgecumbe factory. In a loiter setting the scheme out the company advised that it would in the near future be calling- tenders for the tar_sealing of the factory yard. It would be appreciated if the council would undertake the sealing of areas bounding the factory property and also carry out any necessary curbing alcng the roadside fronting the Dairy Factory.

Crs Butler and Hunter spoke strongly in support of the request pointing out that nothing in the shape of work of this nature had been carried out in that district for the past three years. The chairman (Mr J. L. Burnett) said he agreed that the request was a fair one and suggested that the council agree to it and ask the company to call tenders for the whole work and submit the prices to the council for final consideration and apportionment.
