CHILDREN IN COUNTRY DISTRICTS A remit considered at last executive meeting of the New Zealand Farmers' Union (Auckland Province) from the Atbenree branch of the Bay of Plenty Sub. Province Avas as follows:— "That in order that children in country districts should obtain the same educational advantages as children in urban areas. the Government be requested to increase the allocation of funds to the Education Department so that (1) Dis-i trict High Schools receive the same capitation allowance and grants for specialised subjects as Ls made to established schools.; (2) that the present anomalies existing in the salaries and grading of the teaching staff of District High Schools; as compared with established schools be removed: (3) that the system of accrediting be revised to enable District High Schools to participate." It was decided to refer the remit to the Education Board.
