Prominent in athletic and Rugby football circles in Auckland at present is Jim a former pupil of tlie Whakatane ' District High School. When he left Whakatane recently, he was playing Junior football for the school team. playing as a Senior, although still in his teens, he is Ponsonby's star fullback, and lias ? 011 a number of occasions been mentioned in the Auckland Star. One such clipping states that lie is considerably faster! than most backs in the Auckland Rugby, and is a sound type of player. He. came in to the Ponsonby team this last season as centrethreequarter, but soon after was shifted to fullback. Having set several Bay of Plenty Junior records in the athletic field, he hopes to continue also in this line in the Auckland district "where we undestand his immediate object is the Junior Hop, Step and Jump record.
