A New Dawn

A local farmer Mr E. D. Sheat, of Thornton, informs us that when recently he was checking the ages, markings and mothers of calves, he discovered tliat be had in his posa Holstein heifer calf } born on August lo (V.P. Day) with a white "V" marked on one leg j the remainder of which was black. Strangely enough the mother's name was Dawn. This is the first reported case' of 'Victory' births noted locally but a recent account of a calf being born on V.E. Day showed the animal to be heavily marked with a white 'V' around its neck.
