ROWING CLUB PROSPECTS
NOW that so many of the original members of the Whakatane Rowing Club are returning from overseas, and in the light of the Club's annual meeting tomorrow, evening it is interesting to recall the resuscitation of rowing during the war years, at a very crucial time when the club's property and interests appeared to be on the verge of disaster. The creation of a junior club, and the enlistment of a band of young enthusiasts who in turn were sponsored by a group of ex-rowers made for immense public interest,, and fully justified the effort made to preserve the grand old pastime.
