The Waimana Church was the scene of a very pretty wedding on August 16 when Miss Ruby Noble, fifth daughter of Mr and Mrs W. B. Hughes, was married to Captain Arthur George Rush, only son of Mr and Mrs Rush of Wellington.
The Rev. Numiny of Taneatua officiated, and the wedding music was played by Miss Patricia MeConncll. The church had been beautifully decorated with spring flowers and Arum lillies by friends of .the bride and. a white wedding bell hung above the bridal couple.
The bride who was given away by her lather wore a beautiful gown of cream georgette, with lace inset on the sleeves, neck and train, which fell gracefully from a full s-kirt. A halo of cream stock held in place a long cream embroidered veil and cream shoes were worn. The bride carried a lovely bouquet of cream stock freesias and maidenhair fern.
The two bridesmaids were Miss Eileen Goebles, of and Miss J. of Nelson (cousin ol' the bridegroom) who wore pretty pale blue georgette ankle length and matching crinolin hats which were latticed at tihe back. They wore silver shoes and carried bouquets of stock and fern. Lynette Hampton, niece, of the bride was flower girl and was dressed in a pretty., pink georgette froclt 5 ankle length also ? and a halo of pink flowers in the hair. She carried a horse shoe of cornflowers and violets. The bridegroom was attended by Lieutenant K. Turner (Wellington) as best man and Petty Officer J. RoberUhaw also as groomsman. All were in uniform. At the conclusion of the ceremony) a reception was held in the Waimana Ha where 200 guests were received by Mr and Mrs Hughes assisted by Mr and Mrs Rush. Mrs Hughes was attired in a smart figured navy satin backed, crepe frock and wore a black fur and '9 black accessories and carried a bouquet of red anemones and fern. The bridegroom's mother chose a navy frock and navy accessories and fur coat. Her bouquet Was of pink anemones, stock and fern. The bridal tables and numerous small tables were decora.ted with lovely spring violets and lacanelias. The wedding cake took pride of place on the bridal table it being three tiered and .beautifully iced and decorated. The cake Avas made by Mrs Rush the bridegroom's mother and a friend Mrs Bristow of Wellington. The usual toasts were honoured Mrs King playing the accompaniments. The be.st man read several telegrams of good wishes. The bridegroom's gifts to the bridesmaids were heart shaped gold lockets with a stone inset, and the little flower girl received a gold bangle. The happy couple left after the reception for their honeymoon amid showers, of confetti and good wishes.
