MEETING AT WAIMANA

FIRST MORMON GATHERING j Under the supervision of New Zealand Mission President R. Hal--9 verson, the first Mormon gathering to be held in the Waimana Pan took place during the weekend. Representatives of the Maori race from all parts of the North Island were present and a total of approximately 300 people attended. The meeting was held at Waimana at the special invitation of Materoa Roberts, Chieftenes* of the Waimana Pah and a direct descendant of the kings of the Waikato tribes. The first meeting commenced at 7.30 p.m. on Saturday, and the last session concluded at 10.30 p.m. on Sunday. * The whole of the catering was carried out by the Maori people of Waimana and the visitors wish to extend their sincercst thanks and appreciation for the manner in "which it was performed.
