NEW SCOUT TROOP

EDGECUMBE'S FIRST PARADE On Saturday, Scout Commissioner C, Kingsley-Smith and Scoutmaster E. Hughes participated in the launching of the newly formed Scout Troop and Cub Pack at E'dgecumbe. Fourteen -Scouts paraded under *S.M. Rogers, and twelve Cubs under Cub Mistress Fergusson. Brief talks were given by the visiting after which the boys were duly initiated into the fundamentals of the Scout code. The boys showed enthusiasm and smartrness and it should not be long be-* fore two strong units are built up in Edgecumbe. It was particularly encouraging t 0 note the eagerness of the Cub members to learn the games and jungle dances which will be a feature of their future training.
