GENERAL DECLINE NOTED
The following report was submitted by the Inspector, Mr H. A. Buirat the monthly meeting 0 f the East Coast Rabbit Board:— "During the past month I have inspected the Wha katane Native Scheme and Ohiwa Sandhills have
found no sign of rabbits;. Kiwi Nut
I Country and Awakeri arc also clear while on the Te Teko block although no signs were found a rabbit wa& caught on the main road from Te Teko. In Waiohau country an odd sign was found near the Rangitaiki river. There were no fresh traces at Kopuriki. On the Galatea Estate odd signs were found near the Ohutu Creek Pounaua but none in the Te Whaiti country.
,4 A rabbit was reported seen at l)iit on searching the country the only signs 1 l'ound were hare signs and making inquiries no one there had seen anv rabbits.
"Rabbits, killed during July Avere as follows: Murupara Estate 1; Galatea Estate 3; Kopurikj 3; Waiohau 1; Te Teko 1. Total 9."
Ihe activities of rabbltcr.s during the past month; were outlined by the Rabbit Inspector, Mr C. H. Davis, in his monthly at the last meeting of the Pongakawa Rabbit Board. The report stated as fo] r j lows:—. ''Since the last avc have worked on a number of private properties and Crown Lands at Edge r Ro'tomia and Mraropara and on Native Lands in Awa'kaponga, laiawera, Kdg;eeumbe and the Lakes area. We have poisoned acres and fumigated 10 150 using. 7251bs Phosphorised Pol-, ard, and (iOlbs Cyanogxts. During his period the weather has been ery unsettled and Ave have been orced to repolson a fair amount of ountry where poisom has been spoilt >y heavy rain. However results have een good and rabbits are scarce' hroughout the whole of the area:. As further supplies of 'A' Dust yanogas are unprocurable Ave have )een forced to switch over to the G Fumigator. This is not as effec ive as the 'A' Dust and will cost
