Albatross on Beach
Reviving memories of 'Tlie Ancient Mariner' an albatross was washed up on Ohope Beach last week. Although the bird was not full grown it had the distinctive markings of its type ? namely, the white body with black wings and long beak. The bird had obviously been sick for several days ? as it appealed quite tame when approached. Readers will recall that another albatross appeared on the beach sev-< eral years ago.
