The Otakiri Women's Institute held its August meeting at the Otakiri Hall on August 1. Owing to the president's unavoidable absence Mrs Jessup was in the chair and the attendance was good. After the business of the day was dealt -with arrangements for the Spring Show to be held in September were placed before the meeting. Mrs .Peck then welcomed the visiting members from the Edgecumbe Institute who were responsible for the entertainment of the afternoon. ■Mrs Peck conveyed her pleasure at .seeing so man}* visitors when the Aveather was so wet and disagreeable. Mrs Burgess then took the chair and expressed a hope that all members would get as much fun out of the afternoon as they Avould liaA r e in giving the items. Mrs Spence then rendered two solos to her own accompaniment which delighted her audience. "Daisy Bell" sung and danced by six ladies in costume was greeted with so much laughter and cheering that a demand for more, brought them back for another performance. The Highland Fling danced by Loraine Roberts and Barbara List was well executed and deserved the applause they received. A Monte Carlo Waltz was. won by Mrs Carr and Mrs W. G. Mayo. The wall competition was won by Mrs Carr. Mrs Peck then thanked the visitors for the delightful entertainment and afternoon tea was served by the Otakiri Institute. Competitions resulted: Tea cosy from scraps of \vool ; Mrs F. Mayo Mrs. Armstrong 2; Mrs Pearse 3. Pot plant Mrs Peck 1; .Mrs Missen 1 y 7 *
