I TAI MITCHIiLL SHIELD GAME The Tauranga v Wliakatane Primtry School rep game for the Tai Mitchell Shield was chiefly dominated by the superior work of the home back line. Forward play was loose oit both si.des ? and Whakatane wbo generally had the better of the scrums l'ed their line well. At ball' time the score was 11—0 in favour orf the home side. After the change over Tauranga began making a bid for points and were rewarded by a try and a pen-i alty kick. Final score, was 17—(j in favour of Whakatane, and the Shield was presented on the ground to the. captain of the winning team by Mr W.-

Rangitaiki v Whakatane The second curtain raiser was a representative junior match between Whakatane anjd Rangitaiki. On the whole the standard of football was•J , good ? but kicking was a little too particularly in the. first half when the ball finding touch spoilt too many good movements. J. Law, playing in the pack for Rangitaiki displayed a very good boot right through and was responsible for all of his teams points with three penalty kicks two of which were eye-*opcnersi from difficult angles. Final score 9—o in favour of Rangitaiki. Mr A, Breward Avas referee.
