WELCOME HOME DANCE
THURSDAY'S BIG EVENT A Welcome Home Dance to all servicemen who have returned from overseas since May last, is to be held in the Caledonian Hall next Thursday (16th August). The Caledonian Society has gone to quite a lot of trouble to make their hall available to the Weclome Home Committee and the Otakiri Lodge have kindly postponed their dance which was to have been held on the same night. The Otakiri Lodge have already postponed their dance on several occasions in favour of Patriotic events and their action is much appreciated.
The King Street Hall will be suitably decorated for the occasion and the supper arrangements are to be supervised by Mrs L. King assisted by the Caledonian Red Cross W.W.S.A. ? Women's Returned Services and Women's Institute.
Dancing is to commence at 8 p.m. sharp and the Official Welcome Home Ceremony will take place at 9.30 p.m. A short address of welcome to the returned men will be tendered by His Worship the Mayor and representatives of tbe County Council and the Returned Services
Association. ' The parents and partners of all servicemen being welcomed are also to be the guests of the. committee and it is hoped that as many parents as possible will attend.
Relatives or friends of any returned serviceman who has not received an invitation are asked to notify the secretary, R. Morpeth, or failing this the otficial in charge of the door will see that all servicemen are admitted as guests.
