CRIPPLED CHILDREN'S SOCIETY OLD CLOTHES SALE Today the appeal by the local branch of'the N.Z. Crippled Children's Society takes place, and coupled with the event is the sale of clothting and produce in the Red Cross- and Patriotic Shop on the Strand. There should be no need to emphasise the claims of this most worthy of for the Society's operations are too well known to need undue publicity. Inaugurated as a direct result, of Lord Nuffield's magnificent gesture ten years ago the movement is now one of the. best recognised throughout the Dominion. Scarcely a district has not witnessed the practical nature of the Society's humanitarian work and it is for the WhaUatane district to realise and recognise the debt which it owes as a community to an organisation which is pledged entirely to the relief of suffering* and the rehabilitation of incapacitated children into useful and productive members of society.
