RUGBY FOOTBALL

Three-quarters-: S. Parkinson (Opotiki), M. Delamerc captain (Opotiki), D. Moore (Opotiki). Five-eighths: T. Koopu (Opotiki) B. Tekami (Tauranga). Half: J. Rarapea (To Puke). Forwards: W. Delamere (Opotiki) McLaughlin (Opotiki), Phillips (Rangitaiki), Poihipi (Opotiki), Harar wira (Whakatane), Kakaho (Rangitaiki), Koopu (Opotiki) Kakau (Tauranga). Emergencies: Backs, Seton (Roto rua), Parkinson (Opotiki); Forwards: McPhee (Tauranga) Woods (Rangitaiki)/ Messrs Anderson and Burrett are the teawm managers. Mr Les Davies of Opotiki will referee. Thiis match is , perhaps the most prominent fixture of the season. The Auckland team has had a conspicuous record of success and the clash between the City and Provincial teams will be watched with great interest both from the Auckland end, and by Bay fans. Town versus Country football never fails to provide interesting comparisons of tactics and standards, and Saturday's game should be no exception to this rule. A distinct advantage, to Auckland will be the fact that the team fielded will have played together on several occasions before meeting the Bay, whereas the home side will meet as a team for the first occasion and little or no combination can be expected from them. However a study of the packs would indicate that the Bay has a distinct advantage in weight over the lighter town forwards, and further that the back line is composed mainly of players from the hitherto unbeaten Opotiki! side, all of whom will have had a good ground training in understanding and team play. The game can be recommended to Rugby fans from all Unions as furnishing possibly the biggest Rugby to be seen in these parts for some years.
