WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
MEETING AT MATATA
The July meeting of the Matata Women's Institute was held in the Presbyterian Hall on .Wednesday, July 25 Mrs Caverhill presiding over a good attendance. The meeting opened with the reading of the Aspirations. Correspondence was dealt with, among which was an appeal to institutes for two garments for Polish refugee children who are guests of the New Zealand Government at Pahiatua. It was arranged, to supply this, garments ne\v members to subscribe equally to the cost. An urgent appeal from U.N.R.11.A was also and members were urged to collect as many, sound, serviceable, garments as possible for the destitute people of Europe. The annual spring flower show was next discussed and schedules '9 ' arranged for same. A bring and buy stall lor the Talent Fund did good business. The roll call was "Hints on Poultry." The competitions were: Best flower Mrs Warbrick 1 and 2; Miss Burt 3. Spring flowers, Mrs; H. Withy 1; Mrs Warbrick 2; Miss But 3. Article from sugar bag, Mrs H. Withy Mrs B. Whitham 2; Mrs Parkingson 3. Eggless cakc, Miss Burt 1. Best vegetable, Mrs Magee 1 and 2; Miss Burt 3.
