THE HURUNUI CUP GAME
OPOT'IKI DEFEATS WHAKATANE The feature of the game at Opotiki last Saturday was the surprise form off the local team against Opotiki during the first half, when the defenders notched only 3 and when many of th e Wliakatane fans began to wonder if their underestimation of the team was justified. The game can honestly be described as as far as, Rugby to that of the previous when at times the scrummages represented a free-for(-all. Wha'katane was unable to stand up to Opoiiki's repeated attacks in I the second half 3 where the superior fitness of the holders stood them in good stead against the weakening challengers. The final score 25—3 in Opotiki's favour was 'not a good indication of the run of the play throughout, but represented rather the easily gathered plums on the final 20 minutes. Mr ,T. Thomas of Tc Teko „ ' ' was referee. A full report will appear in Friday's issue.
