PATRIOTIC GIFTS
WORK OF THE LADIES KNITTED GOODS AND GIFT PARCELS Some illuminating figures were given at the annual meeting of the Whakatane Borough and Ohope Patriotic Committee Tuesday evening, with regard to the work of the Whakatane. ladies. Altogether since the committee has been operating the ladies have despatched 1489 parcels overseas j including 325 during" last year. The knitted goods which have gone away from the town also run into' surprising figures. Details are as under: —
The organisation known as the Lady Galway Guild has also executed invaluable work by way of despatching overseas much needed articles of clothing for the destitute of Europe. During the year 23 cases'* of clothing wer# despatched overseas making a total of 76 cases packed and sent away since the Guild has operated. Last year three cases went towards Greek Relief and four cases to the Polish Children's Camp.
